Juego de Rol a partir de los naipes Artefactos & Trolls de Proyecto Ensamble

Role-playing game based on the Artifacts & Trolls cards from Proyecto Ensamble

Tabletop role-playing for the Artifacts & Trolls Card Game by Proyecto Ensamble. One of the things we wanted to achieve with the Artifacts & Trolls card game was the ability to play it solo. This was already possible through the original instructions. But now we also bring you the Role-Playing Game version, where you embark on a dangerous journey to complete your chosen objectives while facing countless Trolls as enemies that you must overcome using your Characters and Artifacts.
This expanded version transforms your deck into not just two, but three different games, so playing solo is no problem. The gameplay has some similarities to the classic Magic card game and to the Latin American game Myths and Legends. Here is how to play.

To get started, you need:

  • Artifacts & Trolls deck
  • A four-sided die, or alternatively a six-sided die. To use a six-sided die as a four-sided die, follow this method: roll the die. If you get a number from 1 to 4, use it normally. If you roll a 5 or 6, use those numbers to continue counting from 1. For example, if you roll a 5, count it as 1; if you roll a 6, count it as 2.

Objective of the Game

Complete an objective card by gathering the three Characters described on it.

Game Dynamics

  • Shuffle the deck and place it face down.
  • Roll the die. A 5 counts as 1, and a 6 counts as 2.
  • Draw the number of cards indicated by the die.
  • You may have a maximum of 4 cards on the table (Artifacts and Characters), plus one objective. That is 5 cards in total.
  • If you draw a Troll, place it in front of your cards: a battle begins, since Trolls are the enemies in the game.
  • Your Characters are the Paladins who fight the Trolls. Each Character has a value: the Ace represents 20 points, cards 2 through 10 have their face value, and J, Q, and K are worth 10 points. This is the score used to face the Trolls, which also have their own score.
  • Artifacts empower your Paladins and help them defeat Trolls. Place an Artifact beneath any Character to increase its final score. The Artifact's value is divided by 2. For example, an Artifact with a value of 6 adds 3 points. For odd prime values such as 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9, divide by 2 and round up: 1 becomes 1, 3 becomes 2, 5 becomes 3, 7 becomes 4, and 9 becomes 5.
  • Once you have 4 cards on the table (Characters and Artifacts) and draw additional cards according to the die, any Trolls and Artifacts you draw become part of the battle. The remaining cards go to the discard pile.
  • If you draw an objective and want to replace your current one, you may do so by discarding the old objective into the discard pile.
  • Once the deck runs out, shuffle the discard pile and roll the die again to continue drawing.

The Battle

  • When a Troll appears, place it in front of you and prepare the Character who will fight it. You may assign an Artifact by placing it beneath the Character to increase its score.
  • If you draw 2 or more Trolls, place them in front of you and assign your Characters to each Troll, with their respective Artifacts if you have them.
  • If your Character, alone or with an Artifact, has a higher score than the Troll, you defeat it and discard it.
  • You may assign 2 or more Characters, with their Artifacts, to a single Troll.
  • You may keep a Troll after defeating it, adding it to your Paladins. This can help you complete the final objective requiring 3 specific cards and win the game, but only if you first discard one of your Characters.
  • If the Troll or Trolls defeat your Characters based on their scores, you die.
  • The Joker Troll acts as a super-powerful 30-point Troll and cannot have Artifacts attached to it.
  • If you stop a Troll's attack with a Character, both the Troll and the Character are eliminated.
